Quickie post

So I'm doing a whole 'serious diet' thing right now (more on that later), but I was at the gym earlier and there was a commercial for McDonalds sweet tea and I was all "I would kill a man for some sweet tea." So I came back to the office and made myself fake sweet tea, which I believe to be calorie free.

I dumped two packets of Splenda at the bottom of a cup and brewed some tea with hot water...I made the tea strong because I figured the eventual ice would water it down. Then I let it sit for about a half hour so it would be at room temperature. And then I dumped it into a cup of ice. It's not real sweet tea, but it's getting the job done.

Note: I have to buy some decaf tea for this in the future, because I am currently WIRED. I should be a barrel of fun at my pilates lesson at 6. :)

I'M SORRY

I've been MIA lately, but I've been constantly traveling and really busy. Coming soon: updates, some including pictures of AT's wedding, Leeann's Bachelorette party week, and our visit to Chicago.

I will say this (and maybe add a picture at some point): I FINALLY GOT A YELLOW PURSE. It's a bit smaller that I would have liked (but far better for my shoulder and back). And the best part? I REALLY like it, AND I got it at the Coach outlet, which was having crazy sales (you should go. Seriously). It was originally over $400 and I paid $89.99. CAN YOU EVEN BELIEVE THAT? On the same trip, I also got two pairs of capri pants from the J. Crew outlet that not only actually fit me properly (read: not looking like floods because I'm so short), but they were also on sale for $22/each. $22. CRAZY.

Ok I've been procrastinating far too long now. It's self-evaluation time at work, and the 4 hours I've already put into this beast have left me only 48% done. KILL ME.

i'm a stinky updater

I promised a hilarious picture like two weeks ago and didn't follow through. I'm lame. Anyway, here it is: me in a westernwear store wearing the boots and hat which I wound up buying based on their awesomeness.

Exciting, right?

I'm on vacation this week! I'm taking pictures, so I'll have a picture update at some point. Saturday night was Danny and AT's wedding in Gainesville, and it was lovely. Except for the part where I took ONE PICTURE at the ceremony and then my camera said "memory card full." So I had to delete some stuff on the way to the reception in order to take more pictures. Fortunately, Chris was playing photographer for the wedding festivities, so I can easily steal pictures from him.

After the weekend in Gainesville and visiting Katie, I drove down to Fort Myers Beach on Sunday for the Leeann's Bachelorette Extravaganza week. And IT IS FANTASTIC. The house is right on the beach, so when we wake up in the morning and look outside, all we see is ocean. To make things even better, it's been about 90 degrees outside but with a strong breeze so you don't even feel hot. Sunday night we had the crazy drinking night, and other than that we've just been hanging out. I've read 1.5 books already. And my spray tan looks good enough on the beach that the light reflecting off of my legs isn't blinding me for the first time ever. I am however, wearing SPF 100 all over my body...and reapplying with SPF 50 every two hours (unless I swim. Once I swim, back to 100 I go). I went for a swim yesterday and the water was perfect. However, when I was returning to shore, I saw two rays swimming there. Just chillin. You may know that I HATE FISH so I was unimpressed that I could see them in the water with me, but apparently as long as I don't step on the rays they'll leave me alone, so I guess that's fine.

Also, for those of you that are interested, the house next door has an awesome manatee mailbox that will be photographed with my phone and picture messaged to you. Because it is amazing.

Anyway, the girls have decided to do this every year because of how great it is. I would like to do this year round personally. Wake up, eat breakfast, lay on beach, eat snack, lay on beach, read, eat lunch, nap, shower, read and/or walk on the beach, eat dinner, read, sleep. Best day ever.

I'll update with pics when I return to the CLT.

Update coming...

...I know it's been a week, but I've been very busy. Here's a quick update and I promise a more detailed one in a few days.

  • I've been in Houston all week. We are staying by the gigantic Galleria mall, and we went there Monday night. I got PERFECT shoes to go with the dress for Leeann's wedding. Yay.
  • Tuesday night we went to the Astros game. I heart baseball. I got moderately drunk. AJ got very drunk and was yelling at the right fielder that she finds attractive for most of the game. It was awesome.
  • Last night we went to a westernwear store because AJ wanted some boots...I may have purchased some things as well. I don't want to spoil it yet, because AJ has an awesome picture that I need to post when I go into more detail.
  • Last Friday, I actually got the spray tan I've been wanting to try for like a year. And it was fantastic. I've been a perfect shade of "not ass-white" all week long. This is definitely going to be a weekly event for the summer. It's nice to not be embarrassed by my bare white legs in shorts.
  • I have a 7am flight tomorrow. As soon as I get to CLT, I'm getting picked up and brought to Wake for recruiting, where I will be all day until late. NOT looking forward to it. Guess how friendly I'm going to be in the afternoon after having to be on an airplane, fully showered, made up, and in a SUIT at 7am. UGH. At least I don't have to drive myself there.

OK, I promise a better update soon. Hope you're all enjoying the spring weather. I am!

Quickie Update

It's April 15th, and you know what that means...leaving work at 3pm to go bowling and drinking. Woop.

Since I have precious little time in the office to actually do work today, I'm a bit busy...but not so busy that I didn't see this...I think now I've finally selected a spring/summer bag that I very much like:

Whaddya think?

Don't worry, I'm alive

Sorry I've been blogging MIA for a while now...I didn't really have much time to update. I"ll try to be better in the future, I promise. I want you all to have a way to procrastinate whenever you want.

So last weekend was Rachael and Chris's wedding, and because I'm awesome and forgot my camera, I have no pictures to share. But it was really fun. It was basically a high school reunion one year early. It's amazing how many people will come to a wedding when it's in both people's hometown. That church was packed. Anyway, Rach looked beautiful, and it was a kick ass time. I did NOT want to fly back to CLT at noon the next day...mostly because of all of the alcohol. But also because I was only home for like 36 hours (damn you, Travelocity).

I was in Charlotte last week and it was just a regular old week, nothing to report really. I got my ass kicked by pilates and yoga, and it made me mad that I'm in CLT this week and then I'm gone for 4 weeks. I would love to get back on a regular exercise and eating schedule again. June cannot come soon enough. On Saturday, Susan and I went to the mall to find dresses for various summer weddings. I got one for Leeann's wedding that I LOVE. So I'm pumped about that. I'm going to wear a dress I already have to AT's wedding, because it's not as formal. And because I'm only worn said dress one other time (EW and Jessie's wedding).

The purse situation has not been solved. And there are so many sales, it's just killing me. Susan and I are planning a trip to the Coach outlet in a few weeks, so I don't want to do anything until then, but I'm thinking of just getting the bag below. Yes, it's boring, but it's practical. I came very close to buying the Kate Spade number below this weekend when it was 30% off...I LOVE it, but it just wasn't summery enough for me. Kate Spade seems to constantly have sales now, so if I change my mind, I'll just get it during the next one.

Also, I covet these shoes. How cute.

That's about it for now...I ordered some bathing suits online recently, so I'll let you know how those turn out when they arrive. Hope everyone had a good Easter.

HATE: The Travelocity Installment

So I have the day off today because I'm flying to NJ for a wedding. When I booked this ticket, I went against my better instincts and booked with Travelocity instead of through US Air like I usually do because I saved $80 by making my return flight with Continental instead of US Air. And I was apprehensive, but I like saving $80 so I figured it was fine.

No. I went to leave the house to go swing by the office to submit an expense report and then hit the airport and I checked my flight status first. And it was cancelled. Now, my flights get cancelled every now and then, nothing you can do about that, but when you book with US Air they at least have the courtesy to call you and tell you your flight was cancelled and you need to get a new one. Not Travelocity, my friends. So by the time I contacted US Air, the earliest flight I could get on was either one hour from the time I called (so obviously no), or 5 hours after my original flight. Great. Now I won't get to NJ until 10pm, I won't have time to go to the fancy mall, and I still have to leave on a noon flight Sunday. So I won't even be there for 36 hours. Oh, and Travelocity can't do anything about changing my returning flight to be a later time because of this debacle...and I know this because I called and yelled at them. "Travelocity Guarantee" my ass.

How am I going to stop myself from online shopping all day when I'm just sitting around, knowing that I can't go to the fancy mall tonight? I'm probably not. Also, the damn ballet flats didn't fit right. What a crappy day.
